Siamese Cats Personality
The Siamese cats personality is more dog like than other breeds of cat. Most felines are happy with their own company and content to spend long periods of time on their own. However the Siamese can form strong attachments to their human family, and often one member in particular. They will often cry for attention and can be very demanding.
The Siamese cats personality is one of high intelligence. They are easily trained and can often be taught tricks that only a dog will perform such as fetching and walking on a leash.
If you are considering getting a Siamese cat don’t expect a quiet little kitty that will happily sleep for most of the day! Siamese are known for being vocal and can often produce a loud squeaky cry, like a human baby. They will try to “talk” to those they have great affection for, and some will be more chatty than others. (Just like people!)
Some will “talk” only when they have something important to say, while others constantly chatter to their owners.
Their stunning blue eyes and striking point markings make them a very attractive breed of cat. They don’t require a lot of grooming due to their short hair, however you should still consider giving the occasional brush to remove loose hairs and massage the coat. This will also help to form a closer bond with your Siamese.
The Siamese cats personality is one of loyalty and they can become jealous of any rivalry. They are very good with children and will tolerate their games and rough handling. Siamese love to play and so make ideal companions for a young child. When the cat has had enough he will simply make himself unavailable and hide somewhere out of reach.
Their loyal, gentle nature also makes them ideal pets for the elderly. They will want to share every part of your life including your bed, and your food. Your Siamese cat will take great interest in whatever you are doing, and may sit on your lap while you are watching tv, or surfing the internet.
If you are going to be out of the house for long periods of time during the day, such as going to work, you could consider getting two cats. They may become friends and will spend time grooming each other. Siamese are highly sociable and may become extra demanding in the evening if left alone all day.
So now you know the Siamese cats personality you can decide if this breed is suitable for you.
